The plants growing in the Himalayas are smaller in size due to their exposure to the harsh climatic conditions, and the growing season is very short. The wild flowers, and medicinal herbs here are blooming usually from May/June until mid September.

Many of the flowers, herbs, shrubs, and trees in Ladakh have medicinal properties. Since centuries, they are used in the Amchi Medicinal System of Tibet and Ladakh for the manufacture of pills, concoctions or teas to benefit the ailing patients.
