The Land Of The Drokpas
The Drokpas living in Ladakh are a small community of Dard people that reside about 160 km northwest of Leh in the villages of Dha, Hanu, Byama, Batalik, Chulichan, etc. Their area is lower in altitude, and is known for its delicious apricots, and sweet grapes.
The members of the Drokpa community bear different facial features compared to the local inhabitants of Ladakh. They have well adapted to the Ladakhi lifestyle, and they speak the local dialect. At the same time, they have preserved their own culture, language, and customs which they proudly display at cultural events.

Mystic Nubra Valley
In ancient times, the Nubra Valley was a busy trading route that connected Leh with trades people from Central Asia, Tibet, Kashmir, and south India. The valley is open to tourism since 1974, and is the northern-most point that can be visited in India.
Getting there is an adventure by itself as you are driving on the highest motorable road, and across the Khardong-la (5,605 m). The Shayok and Nubra River Valleys offer tremendous scenery, with green oasis villages surrounded by harsh arid mountains. There are sand dunes where you can ride Bactrian camels, explore monasteries, bath in hot springs, and, at Turtuk and Bogdang, discover a completely different (Balti) culture. Travelers are allowed to visit Siachen, the highest battle field on earth, too.

Changtang: Nomads & Lakes
Your driving patience of several hours will be rewarded: The Eastern highlands of Ladakh, also known as the Rupshu and Changtang Plateaus, are bordering with China-occupied Tibet. The area is dominated by the nomads, the Changpas, who migrate together with their livestock - sheep, goats, and yaks - from grazing area to grazing area.
On this high-altitude plateau you will find a unique wildlife, rolling mountains, and beautiful lakes, like the salted lake of Tso Kar as well as the Pangong and Tso Moriri lakes.
